our return policy

Our wine selection process is rigorous. We don’t sell just any outlet wine. It must be of high quality, a great value, and, of course, produced by artisans. Because of this we stand behind our wines 100%.

We guarantee that the wine you purchase is good when you purchase it, but consider that wine is a living thing and will spoil if not cared for properly. Please read these guidelines on how to care for your wine.

If you think the wine is off, we recommend you:

  1. Pour the wine into a glass or decanter, walk away, and taste it again in a few minutes (or even hours). Many wines simply need time to “breathe”.
  2. Pair your wine with the right foods. Not all wine taste good with all foods. A rich cabernet will probably not work with your white fish, and a pinot noir will taste pretty mild with roast beef.
  3. Consider the age of the wine. Older wines are different than younger wines. A great aged wine may have brownish colors and have funky flavors such as meat and prunes (yummy!). A younger wine may be bright red and have fresh flavors such as berries and herbs (yummy too!). They are both as they should be.

Sadly, we don’t give refunds just because “you didn’t like it”. There is a wide variety of tastes, smells, ages, blends, etc., meaning that as you experiment, you will get better at knowing what you like best. One man’s yuck is another man’s love. That is what makes wine so much fun!

We will give a refund if the wine is:

  1. Corked or spoiled – which generally means it smells and tastes heavily of wet cardboard.
  2. The bottle is broken during delivery.

If this happens to you, email us at refund@peopleswinemarket.com within 14 days of your delivery date. We will refund your money. Because we will most likely be out of stock by the time you email, we will not be able to replace your wine.

our shipping policy

general things:

  1. You must be 21 years of age or older to order and receive wine from us.
  2. An adult (over 21 years of age) signature is required for delivery.
  3. If a package is returned to us for any reason (no one home, no one over 21 to accept the package, etc.) we will not ship it to you again. We will refund you the cost of your order minus the actual shipping cost. This will be substantially more than the $5 we charged. To avoid this, we highly recommended that you ship your wine to a business address.
  4. We cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes.
  5. Due to the strange tangle of laws for shipping wine in this country, we only ship wine to the following states:

Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

If you don’t see your state here, please contact your elected officials to encourage them to change the laws!
  6. We can only ship in the United States.
  7. Your wine will arrive within 2 weeks. Shipments may be delayed if the weather isn’t suitable for shipping wine (very hot or very cold). Air freight is available at an extra charge (calculated at check-out).

detailed things:

  1. Upon purchase of the wine, ownership of the wine passes from People’s Wine Market to the purchaser in the State of Washington and the purchaser is responsible for shipping it from Washington to their home state. People’s Wine Market is providing a service to and strictly acting on behalf of the customer by arranging for the transportation of the wine. When purchasing wine from People’s Wine Market, the purchaser promises that they are acting in a fashion compliant with their local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation, and delivery of wine. The purchaser promises that they have obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of wine, is legally entitled to take quantities ordered, and authorizes that they are at least 21 years of age.
  2. Delivery time is based on multiple factors. We generally pick and pack orders within two business days, though sometimes this can be longer if there are delays in getting the wine from the winery. We do not ship on Fridays to ensure that your wine is not exposed to inclement weekend weather. We use UPS for all of our shipping, and standard ground shipping is included for $5. You also have the option of paying extra for air freight shipping at check-out. We only ship in approved wine shipping containers to ensure the safety of your wine. We will email you a tracking number for your shipment, which will become active when it is scanned by the driver.
  3. You must be at least 21 years old to order and receive wine from People’s Wine Market. All packages require an adult signature upon delivery. There are no exceptions on this. We highly recommended that you provide us with a business shipping address to ensure timely delivery. We will not be able to deliver if there is not an adult present to sign for the package. We will refund you the cost of your order minus the actual shipping cost if it is returned to us. This will be substantially more than the $5 we charged. Any requests to leave the package at the door, without an adult to sign for it, cannot be honored. Also, it cannot be delivered if you are drunk, and it can’t be sent to P.O. boxes. Sorry, but that is the law!
  4. People’s Wine Market automatically adds insurance to your shipment, which will protect it from being lost or damaged in transit. This is at no additional cost to you.
